UNFORTUNATELY, the Democrats lost seats in the House, didn’t pick up the Senate (pending two forthcoming elections in Georgia), got blown out of the water in several races that were supposed to be competitive, and lost ground in the statehouses. Trump managed to place more judges on the Supreme Court in four years than Obama did in eight, including a credibly-accused rapist and a Catholic fundamentalist with less than two years experience as a judge. Nancy Pelosi and the rest of the cadaverous old guard will naturally retain their grip on a dying Democratic party, no doubt making efforts to “reach across the aisle” to the nefarious GOP, instead of offering any beneficial legislation to their constituents (the Green New Deal, a Infrastructure program, Healthcare, etc).
DEMON-CRATS AND SIN-TRISTS were very concerned about Bernie-Bros and Warren-Stans not backing Biden in the election, but the Leftists delivered the votes with a minimum amount of grumbling. The Left, in turn, has been rewarded as one might expect by the Biden crew, with a grand total of zero progressives being named for cabinet positions and major federal offices. Better luck next time!
AFTER ALL, JOE BIDEN BELIEVES that a return to pre-Trump normalcy will solve all of our problems. It’s a classic failure to acknowledge the underlying issues that drove people to Trump in the first place (lack of affordable healthcare and housing and higher education, racism, Republican intransigence, income inequality, stagnant wages, social and economic alienation, a crumbling infrastructure, job mechanization, climate change, government corruption, etc). Expect the next four years to be something of a holding pattern for the nation, as the Left and the Right lick their wounds and material conditions continue to get worse, while the Center covers its ears and hums loudly. The bleeding will slow and some fires will be put out and it surely won’t be worse than Trump, but it should be patently obvious by now that our ruling class has no grand plan to save us. Not without significant pressure from the public. At best, they can maybe save themselves, if only for a short time.
Joe Biden has also suggested that he won’t be seeking any legal investigations for the many, many crimes that Trump has committed while in office; known and unknown. The truth is that busting corruption isn’t really that interesting to the Democrats, and they’re so afraid of GOP followers and losing suburbanites that they have always refused to EVER hold ANY Republicans accountable for anything. It’s the reason that we see things like the easy rehabilitation of Ronald Reagan, the gradual rehabilitation of George W. Bush, and eventually, the future rehabilitation of Donald Trump.
